OFFICE OF LOCAL 13 WILL BE CLOSED FOR PRESIDENT’S DAY

 

The Office of Local 13 will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2015 in observance of President’s Day.

 

PRESIDENT’S DAY PAID HOLIDAY

 

President’s Day, Monday, February 16, 2015 is a paid holiday.  Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year (2014) and meet the availability requirements for at least two of the five days Monday through Friday (exclusive of the day of the holiday) during the payroll week in which the holiday falls will receive a paid holiday for President’s Day.  This means you must work or meet the availability requirements for at least two days, Tuesday, February 17; Wednesday, February 18; Thursday, February 19; and Friday February 20, 2015.

 

Under the current contract, if you worked 1300 hours or more in the payroll year 2014, you do not need to meet the availability requirement to receive President’s Day Holiday pay.

 

Anyone intending to take a vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before February 20, 2015.  Any person not receiving holiday pay because of injury, illness, jury duty, etc. must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before Friday, April 10, 2015.  President’s Day Holiday pay will be paid on March 6, 2015.

 

LINCOLN’S BIRTHDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2015 IS A HOLIDAY BUT IS NOT A PAID HOLIDAY.  ALL WORK PERFORMED ON FEBRUARY 12, 2015 (THURSDAY) WILL BE PAID AT THE OVERTIME RATE.




 

2015 SPRING ELECTION

 

The deadline for the submission of nominees is Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.  Nomination papers must be turned in at ILWU Local 13, 630 S. Centre Street, San Pedro, CA 90731.

 

An election for the office of President (1), Vice-President (1), Labor Relations Representative (1), Day Business Agent (1), Night Business Agent (1), Trustee (2), Day Dispatchers (5), Day Flex Dispatcher (1), Casual Hall Dispatcher (1), Chairman of Stewards (1), Casual Hall Sgt-At-Arms (1), Publicity Committee (3), and Grievance Committee (10) will take place at the date, time and place indicated below.

 

Date: March 10th, 11th and 12th, 2015

Time: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Place: ILWU Memorial Hall

231 W. “C” Street

Wilmington, CA 90744

 

The offices for the Membership Committee (16), Political Action Committee (6) and Executive Board (25) will be included along with any other offices in the run-off.  The run-off will take place at the date, time and place indicated below.

 

Date: March 24th, 25th and 26th, 2015

Time: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Place: ILWU Memorial Hall

ELIGIBILITY TO RUN FOR OFFICE

 

In accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws, Article IV, Section 1, Sub-Section (f) and Article XI, Section 1, Sub-Section (b).  For a member to be considered in good standing, they shall have their dues, fines, and assessments paid in full every month for twelve consecutive months prior to picking up a nomination form.  No nomination form shall be issued to the member if this criteria has not been met.

 

Article IV, Section 1, (f)

“In order to have his name placed on the ballot and to hold any office or position, each candidate must have been in good standing and an active Longshoreman in the industry in this Local or working in the ILWU for the previous twelve (12) months.”

 

Article XI, Section 1, (b)

“Dues are due and payable on the first day of each month.  A member is in good standing only when his dues, assessments or other indebtedness are paid on or before the delinquent dates, as determined by the Local.”
