STOP WORK MEETING
AUGUST 3, 2017 @ 7:00 P.M.
HARRY BRIDGES BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY
Harry Bridges Birthday, Friday, July 28, 2017 is a paid holiday. Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year (2016) and meet the availability requirements for at least two of the five days exclusive of the holiday Monday through Friday will receive a paid holiday for Harry Bridges Birthday. This means you must work or meet the availability requirements for at least two days, Monday, July 24th; Tuesday, July 25th, Wednesday, July 26th or Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Under the current contract one does not have to meet the availability requirement if you worked 1300 hours in the prior payroll year (2016) to receive the Harry Bridges Holiday pay.
Persons taking a vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before July 28, 2017 or you will not receive the holiday pay. Persons not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc., must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before Friday, September 8, 2017. The Harry Bridges holiday pay will be paid on Friday, August 4, 2017.
2017 FALL ELECTION
Nominations will open at the Stop Work Meeting on Thursday, August 3, 2017, for the following offices and committees:
Secretary/Treasurer (1), Labor Relations Representative (1), Health Benefits Representative (1), Trustee (1), Day Business Agent (1), Night Business Agent (1), Day Dispatchers (5), Night Dispatcher (1), Flex Dispatcher (1), Day Flex Dispatcher (1), Sgt-At-Arms (1), District Council (10), and Caucus Delegates (10). Nomination papers will be available at the dues office on Friday, August 5, 2016.
Nomination papers must be turned in no later than 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at ILWU Local 13, 630 S. Centre Street, San Pedro, CA 90731.
Elections will be held on Tuesday, September 5th, Wednesday, September 6th; and Thursday, September 7, 2017. Run-off elections will be held on Tuesday, September 19th; Wednesday, September 20th; and Thursday, September 21, 2017. Voting will take place at the ILWU Memorial Hall, 231 W. “C” Street, Wilmington, 90744. The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on each day.
2017 SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION
The ILWU Scholarship Committee will present their awards to the recipients of the Family Scholarship Program on Thursday, August 3, 2017 @ 6:15 p.m. at the Stop Work Meeting.
