STOP WORK MEETING

AUGUST 4, 2016 @ 7:00 P.M.

 

Please note – the Stop Work Meeting for August 4, 2016 will take place at the New Dispatch Hall, 1500 E. Anaheim Street, Wilmington @ 7:00 p.m.     

 

NEW DISPATCH HALL – OPEN HOUSE

 

The New Dispatch Hall will be open on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. so members can go and tour the hall prior to the Stop Work Meeting on August 4, 2016.  Please note:  The “official” move-in and grand opening will take place at a later date.

 

HARRY BRIDGES BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY

 

Harry Bridges Birthday, Thursday, July 28, 2016 is a paid holiday. Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year (2015) and meet the availability requirements for at least two of the five days exclusive of the holiday Monday through Friday will receive a paid holiday for Harry Bridges Birthday.  This means you must work or meet the availability requirements for at least two days, Monday, July 25th; Tuesday, July 26th, Wednesday, July 27th or Friday, July 29, 2016.   

 

Under the current contract one does not have to meet the availability requirement if you worked 1300 hours in the prior payroll year (2015) to receive the Harry Bridges Holiday pay.  

 

Persons taking a vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before July 29, 2016 or you will not receive the holiday pay.  Persons not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc., must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before Friday, September 2, 2016.  The Harry Bridges holiday pay will be paid on Friday, August 5, 2016.

 

2016 FALL ELECTION

 

Nominations will open at the Membership Meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2016, for the following offices and committees:  

 

Secretary/Treasurer (1), Labor Relations Representative (1), Health Benefits Representative (1), Trustee (1), Day Business Agent (1), Night Business Agent (1), Day Dispatchers (5), Night Dispatcher (1), Flex Dispatcher (1), Day Flex Dispatcher (1), Sgt-At-Arms (1), District Council (10), and Caucus Delegates (10).  Nomination papers will be available at the dues office on Friday, August 5, 2016.

 

Nomination papers must be turned in no later than 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at ILWU Local 13, 630 S. Centre Street, San Pedro, CA 90731.

 

Elections will be held on Tuesday, September 6th, Wednesday, September 7th; and Thursday, September 8th;. Run-off elections will be held on Tuesday, September 20th; Wednesday, September 21st; and Thursday, September 22, 2016.  Voting will take place at the ILWU Memorial Hall, 231 W. “C” Street, Wilmington, 90744.  The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on each day.

 

 

6-MONTH DAY DISPATCHER POSITION

 

Nominations will open at the Membership Meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2016 @ 7:30 p.m. for the 6-month Day Dispatcher position, which will also be placed on the 2016 Fall Ballot.  Nomination forms will be available on Friday, August 5, 2016.  The nomination forms for this position must be turned in no later than Saturday, September 3, 2016 by 10:00 a.m.         


 

2016 SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION

 

The ILWU Scholarship Committee will present their awards to the recipients of the Family Scholarship Program on Thursday, August 4, 2016 @ 6:15 p.m. at the Stop Work Meeting.  If the student is not able to attend, a parent or family member may accept the award on their behalf.  If you have any questions, please contact Renee Olloque at (310) 830-1130 x128.
