STOP WORK MEETING
AUGUST 1, 2019 @ 7:00 P.M.
HARRY BRIDGES BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY
Harry Bridges Birthday, Sunday, July 28, 2019 is a paid holiday. Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year (2018) and meet the availability requirements for at least two of the dive days exclusive of the holiday, Monday through Friday will received a paid holiday for Harry Bridges Birthday. Under the current contract, when a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday. This means you must work or meet the availability requirements for at least two days, Tuesday, July 30th; Wednesday, July 31st; Thursday, August 1st and Friday, August 1, 2019. Under the current contract one does not have to meet the availability requirement if you worked 1300 hours in the prior payroll year (2018) to receive the Harry Bridges Holiday pay.
Persons taking a vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before August 2, 2019 or you will not receive the holiday pay. Persons not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc., must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before Friday, September 13, 2019. The Harry Bridges holiday pay will be paid on Friday, August 9, 2019.
All work performed on Monday, July 29, 2019 will be paid at the overtime rate.
2019 FALL ELECTION
Nominations will open at the Stop Work Meeting on Thursday, August 1, 2019, for the following offices and committees:
Secretary/Treasurer (1), Labor Relations Representative (1), Health Benefits Representative (1), Trustee (1), Day Business Agent (1), Night Business Agent (1), Day Dispatchers (5), Night Dispatcher (1), Flex Dispatcher (1), Day Flex Dispatcher (1), Sgt-At-Arms (1), District Council (10), and Caucus Delegates (10). Nomination papers will be available at the dues office on Friday, August 2, 2019.
Nomination papers must be turned in no later than 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at ILWU Local 13, 630 S. Centre Street, San Pedro, CA 90731.
Elections will be held on Tuesday, September 10th, Wednesday, September 11th; and Thursday, September 12, 2019. Run-off elections will be held on Tuesday, September 24th; Wednesday, September 25th;and Thursday, September 26, 2019. Voting will take place at the ILWU Memorial Hall, 231 W. “C” Street, Wilmington, 90744. The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on each day.
2019 SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION
The ILWU Scholarship Committee will present their awards to the recipients of the Family Scholarship Program on Thursday, August 1, 2019 @ 6:00 p.m. prior to the Stop Work Meeting.
