BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY

 

The Office will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2020 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday holiday.

 

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. BIRTHDAY 

PAID HOLIDAY

 

Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday, Monday, January 20, 2020 is a paid holiday.  Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year 2019 and meet the availability requirements for at least two of the five days, Monday through Friday (exclusive of the day of the holiday) during the payroll week in which the holiday falls will receive a paid holiday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday.  This means you must work or meet the availability requirement for at least two days Tuesday, January 21st; Wednesday, January 22nd; Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24, 2020.

Under the current contract, one does not have to meet the availability requirement if you have worked 1300 hours in the prior payroll year (2019) to receive Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday paid holiday.

 

Anyone intending to take a vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before Friday, January 24, 2020 in order to be paid for the holiday.  Any person not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc. must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before Friday, March 6, 2020.  

The Martin Luther King, Jr. paid holiday will be paid on paycheck of January 31, 2020. 

 

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. 

KINGDOM DAY PARADE

JANUARY 20, 2020

 

ILWU will be participating in the Martin Luther King, Jr., Kingdom Day Parade on Monday, January 20, 2020 in Los Angeles.  

 

We are looking for ILWU members and their families to participate in the largest King Day Parade in the nation.  This parade will be televised on several local channels.  Let’s all show up and let the surrounding cities know who we are.  

 

Please wear your white hats and blue pants.  We will provide t-shirts so we all look uniformed.  Please wear comfortable shoes/clothing.  The 3-mile parade route begins at 9:30 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd., & Western Avenue in Los Angeles.  

 

Transportation to and from the parade will be provided.  Space is limited to the first 50 people who sign up.  You may sign up at the Records Clerk office.  

The bus will pick up and return at the ILWU Memorial Hall, 231 W. “C” Street, Wilmington.  The bus will depart at 7:30 a.m. to leave to the parade.  We will return once the parade is over.
