Your Health is Our Priority
The personal health and safety of our members and employees is something we take seriously. Amid concerns of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we wanted to share information on steps the JPLRC is taking, in addition to things you can do to keep us all safe.
Here are things the JPLRC is doing:
-
Dispatch Process: Effective First Shift on Saturday, March 14, 2020 dispatch processes and procedures will be modified as outlined below:
-
Class A’s will report to the Longshore Hall for dispatch as usual. If you are not accepting work on the flex please remain in your car until regular dispatch begins at 6:40am.
-
Class B’s will report to the Casual Hall (343 Broad Ave. Wilmington, CA 90744) for dispatch. Do not come to the Longshore Hall. You will be denied access.
-
Casuals should not arrive at the Casual Hall prior to 7:30 a.m. for Dayside Dispatch or 5:30 p.m. for Nightside Dispatch. No Casual jobs will be dispatched before that time. If you arrive early, do not approach the Hall. Please remain in your car.
-
-
Sanitizing: We have increased our cleaning and sanitization efforts. The JPLRC secured a vendor to clean the Longshore and Casual Halls twice per day (after each dispatch session).
-
Supplies: We installed hand sanitizer stations throughout the Longshore and Casual Dispatch Halls.
-
Should the JPLRC identify individual(s) tampering with or removing cleaning/sanitization equipment such as the hand sanitizer station, they will face deregistration.
-
-
Interactions: Do not shake hands, hug, or elbow bump. It’s unnecessary and puts both people at risk. If you want to share your affection, send them a text.
-
Education: We have advised all Dispatch Hall personnel to wash their hands often, with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after nose-blowing, coughing, or sneezing. We have also informed them to stay home if they are ill. Please do the same. Do not come to the Dispatch Halls or a job site if you are sick.
We are closely monitoring updates from the CDC and World Health Organization. Should the Coronavirus continue to spread, the JPLRC will take necessary action, including changes to the dispatch process outlined above. Please note these procedures are temporary and will be lifted as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
