STOP WORK MEETING

TURKEY DINNERS AT THE

STOP WORK MEETING

Turkey dinner plates will be sold for $6.00 at the Stop Work Meeting, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the ILWU Memorial Hall. The meal will include Turkey, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy, Corn, Roll and Cranberry Sauce.  Side items will be sold separately (@ $2.00 each – Pumpkin Pie) ($1.00 each – Soda or Water).  Please patronize the ILWU Holiday Events Committee Fundraiser by bringing an empty stomach and help raise money towards the Annual Thanksgiving Event.  

END OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Sunday, November 4, 2018 will be the end of daylight savings time.  All clocks will be turned back one (1) hour at 2:00 a.m.  If you pick up a “hoot” shift job (3:00 a.m. start) you will begin at the “old” time.  The longshore industry will begin its Pacific Standard Time on the Day Side, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. 

OFFICE OF LOCAL 13 

CLOSED VETERANS DAY

The Office of Local 13 will be closed on Monday, November 12, 2018 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.  The office will re-open for business on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.  

VETERANS DAY PAID HOLIDAY

Veterans Day Sunday, November 11, 2018 is a paid holiday.  Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year 2017 and meet the availability requirement for at least two (2) of the five (5) days, Monday through Friday (exclusive of the day of the holiday) during the payroll week in which the holiday falls will receive a paid holiday for Veterans Day.  

Under the current contract, when a holiday falls on a Sunday the holiday shall be observed on the following Monday.  

This means you must work or meet the availability requirements for at least two (2) days.  Tuesday, November 13th; Wednesday, November 14th; Thursday, November 15th; Friday, November 16, 2018.

Under the current contract one does not have to meet the availability requirement if you have worked 1300 hours in the prior payroll year (2017) to receive the Veterans Day paid holiday.  

Anyone intending to take a vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before November 16, 2018 in order to be paid for the holiday.  Any person not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc., must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before December 28, 2018.  

The Veterans Day holiday will be paid on the pay check of November 23, 2018.
