HEALTH BENEFITS BULLETIN
UPDATE INFORMATION
In July, we met with the administrative staff of Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital – San Pedro and discussed the changes that will take place to help resolve some of the ILWU membership concerns, and to better service the communities in the Harbor area:

PLCMH – San Pedro has hired a new Administrator, Garry Olney, RN, PhD and a Harvard trained physician to lead the quality initiatives, Steven Brass, M.D., MBA, Director of Medical Affairs

PLCMH – San Pedro has approved its $8 million dollar rebuild of the Emergency Department
-
A multi-million dollar investment has been made to perform a seismic retrofit
-
Established relationship with UCLA to be part of their Liver Transplant Program. Patients will spend time in the hospital while awaiting their liver transplant and after surgery as they recover. UCLA recognizes the expertise of their Sub Acute Care unit, the largest of its kind in the State of California.

401K FIDELITY
A Representative from 401K Fidelity will be available at Local 13 to help and assist our members with any questions or concerns on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
WORKSHOPS
Thank you to the members who attended the Retirement and 401K Fidelity Workshops and to the presenters who helped who helped make the workshops possible. Your participation made the workshops a true success, and we look forward to many more in the future.
KAISER PERMANENTE PARTICIPANTS
The Kaiser Permanente “computer glitch” has been resolved and participants’ eligibility was restored immediately on Friday, July 31, 2015. The Union is requesting a meeting with Kaiser Permanente to discuss and develop a procedure on how to handle any unforeseen disruption of services to the membership and their families.
WELFARE BENEFITS UPDATE
ILWU/PMA Benefit Plans is currently working on the updates to reflect changes to the Welfare Benefits and will notify membership when changes have been completed. You will also receive instructions on how to submit claims for reimbursement.

ADA ACCOMMODATIONS
If you have any changes to your ADA accommodations you must attend the ADA JPLRC.
ADA JPLRC meetings are scheduled the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at Pacific Maritime Association, 300 Oceangate, 12th Floor, Long Beach, CA 90802 (no parking validation).
DEATH NOTIFICATION
Active or Retired,
Please inform your family that in the event of death, they must notify your respective Local (13, 63 or 94) and the ILWU-PMA Benefit Plans office in San Francisco. When notifying your Local, family should be prepared to give appropriate contact information.

SAFETY TIP
Section 6 – Rule 602. An injury of any kind, irrespective of its severity, shall be reported immediately to the foreman, walking boss, or man in charge of operations, by the injured person, if they are physically able to do so. If not, the injury shall be reported by any other person in possession of the facts.
