MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2015

The ILWU Southern California Pensioners are proud to announce they will be serving breakfast again prior to the start of this year’s Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 7, 2015.  Please join us at the ILWU Memorial Hall located at 231 E. C. St, Wilmington at 8:00 a.m. for a delicious breakfast.  In keeping with last year’s tradition, breakfast burritos, doughnuts, cookies, coffee, and drinks will be served. We will also have a shuttle transporting guests from the parade starting point to the Memorial Hall and back from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  The ILWU So. Cal. Pensioners look forward to providing this service to our Brothers  & Sisters every year and ask you to bring your families to the Memorial Hall to fuel up before the Labor Day Parade.

LABOR DAY PAID HOLIDAY

Labor Day Monday, September 7, 2015 is a paid holiday.  Only registered members who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year (2014) and meet the availability requirements for at least two of the five days Monday through Friday (exclusive of the holiday) will receive a paid holiday for Labor Day.  This means you must work or meet the availability requirements for at least two of these days, Tuesday, September 8; Wednesday, September 9; Thursday; September 10 and Friday, September 11, 2015.

LABOR DAY IS ONE OF THE HOLIDAYS THAT EVERYONE HAS TO MEET THE TWO DAY AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS.

Persons taking vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch hall on or before September 11, 2015 or you will not receive the holiday pay.  Persons not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc. must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before October 30, 2015.

The Labor Day holiday pay will be paid on September 25, 2015.

Some paid holiday notes:

  • Vacation must be taken Monday through Friday
