STOP WORK MEETING

THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, 2015 @ 7:00 P.M.

 

Please note:  The ILWU International candidates will be in attendance to address the membership.   


 

HARRY BRIDGES BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY

 

Harry Bridges Birthday, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 is a paid holiday. Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year (2014) and meet the availability requirements for at least two of the five days exclusive of the holiday Monday through Friday will receive a paid holiday for Harry Bridges Birthday.  This means you must work or meet the availability requirements for at least two days, Monday, July 27th; Wednesday, July 29th, Thursday, July 30th or Friday, July 31, 2015.   

 

Under the current contract one does not have to meet the availability requirement if you worked 1300 hours in the prior payroll year (2014) to receive the Harry Bridges Holiday pay.  

 

Persons taking a vacation during the holiday week must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before July 31, 2015 or you will not receive the holiday pay.  Persons not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc., must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before Friday, September 18, 2015.  The Harry Bridges holiday pay will be paid on Friday, August 14, 2015.

 

2015 SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION

 

The ILWU Scholarship Committee will present their awards to the recipients of the Family Scholarship Program on Thursday, August 6, 2015 @ 6:00 p.m. at the ILWU Memorial Hall, before the Stop Work Meeting.  If the student is not able to attend, a parent or family member may accept the award on their behalf.  If you have any questions, please contact Renee Olloque at (310) 830-1130 x128.

 

2015 FALL ELECTION

 

Nominations will open at the Stop Work Meeting on Thursday, August 6, 2015, for the following offices and committees:  

 

Secretary/Treasurer (1), Labor Relations Representative (1), Health Benefits Representative (1), Trustee (1), Day Business Agent (1), Night Business Agent (1), Day Dispatchers (5), Night Dispatcher (1), Flex Dispatcher (1), Day Flex Dispatcher (1), Sgt-At-Arms (1), District Council (10), and Caucus Delegates (10).  Nomination papers will be available at the dues office on Friday, August 7, 2015.

 

Nomination papers must be turned in no later than 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at ILWU Local 13, 630 S. Centre Street, San Pedro, CA 90731.

 

Elections will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, Wednesday, September 9th; and Thursday, September 10th;. Run-off elections will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd; Wednesday, September 23rd; and Thursday, September 24, 2015.  Voting will take place at the ILWU Memorial Hall, 231 W. “C” Street, Wilmington, 90744.  The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on each day.

 

CL/HL TRAINING INSTRUCTORS

 

Anyone interested in being a CL/HL instructor for the CL/HL training program may sign-up for this position with the Records Clerk (Ray Pearson) at the Dispatch Hall.  Qualified individuals must have five (5) years or more as a Class “A” longshoreman and extensive experience operating a CL/HL.
