The Office of Local 13 will be closing at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016. All permits will be extended until Monday, December 19, 2016 @ 3:00 p.m.
ILWU TOY DRIVE
The Holiday Committee will be hosting the annual Toy Drive on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the ILWU Memorial Hall from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the day of the event. Volunteers of all ages are welcome (under age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult). Anyone can drop off an unwrapped toy at the Records Clerk office or at the office of ILWU Local 13.
Saturday, December 24, 2016 – Christmas Eve
Sunday, December 25, 2016 – Christmas Day
Saturday, December 31, 2016 – New Year’s Eve
Sunday, January 1, 2017 – New Year’s Day
ALL DAYS LISTED ABOVE ARE PAID HOLIDAYS
Only registered persons who have 800 qualifying hours in the prior payroll year 2015 and meet the availability requirements for at least two (2) of the five (5) days Monday through Friday (exclusive of the days of the holiday) during the payroll weeks in which the holiday falls will receive a paid holiday for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Attention new registrants: As per Coast LRC 12-97, if you were registered in 2016 and have worked 800 hours, you are eligible for these holidays as long as you meet the availability requirements.
For the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day holidays, you must work or meet the availability for two of four days that apply to this section of the contract. These days are Tuesday, December 27; Wednesday, December 28; Thursday, December 29 and Friday, December 30, 2016.
For the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s holiday you must work or meet the availability requirements for two of the four days that apply to this section of the contract. These days are Tuesday, January 3; Wednesday, January 4; Thursday, January 5, and Friday, January 6, 2017.
Please note since the holidays fall on Saturday and Sunday, these holidays will be observed on Monday, December 26, 2016 and Monday, January 2, 2017. Monday, December 26, 2016 and Monday, January 2, 2017 do not count towards your holiday availability.
Persons intending to take vacation during the holidays must report the vacation to the Records Clerk in the Dispatch Hall on or before Friday, December 30, 2016 for the Christmas Eve and Christmas holidays, and on or before January 6, 2017 for the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s holidays.
Persons not receiving holiday pay because of illness, injury, jury duty, etc. must file a claim with the Records Clerk on or before February 10, 2017 for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Holidays and on or before February 17, 2017 for the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s holiday.
Some paid holiday notes:
Vacation must be taken Monday through Friday.
Example: Work Tuesday day, double-back Tuesday night, this is only one day of the requirement. You have worked two shifts in one day.

During the holiday closure, the Class B Delinquent Day will be extended until Tuesday, January 3, 2016 @ 3:00 p.m.
