The Office of Local 13 will be closing at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016. All permits will be extended until Monday, December 12, 2016.
CLASS “A” AVAILABILITY
SECTION 8.34 OF THE PCLCD
8.34 Each registered longshoreman has the obligation to request a leave of absence if he intends to absent himself from work for a period of 30 days or longer and in other circumstances as may be covered by port rules under Supplement I. A registered longshoreman who fails to work for 30 days, except when on approved leave, and whose facts and reasons for such absence are not acceptable to the Joint Port Labor Relations Committee, may be deregistered.
PMA has begun to file complaints on individuals who have not met the requirement of 8.34 of the PCLCD. All class “A” longshoremen must work at least one shift each calendar month to fulfill their obligation for availability.
If you cannot work because of a sickness or injury please submit medical or disability documents to the ILWU and the PMA at the time of your injury.
If you have recently returned to work form a lengthy time off due to sickness or injury please make sure all your medical documents are up to date with the ILWU and the PMA.
If you are the care provider for any dependent and unable to work please submit proper FMLA paperwork.
If you need to absence yourself for any reason for more than 30 days please contact the union officers before doing so.
If you are aware of any longshoremen who have been off work for an extended period due to a sickness or injury please remind them to update their medical documentation with the ILWU and the PMA.
Failure to provide any documentation may result in your de-registration as a class “A” longshoremen.
NIGHT MECHANIC BOARD
To sign up for the Night Mechanic Board you must see Ray Pearson in the Records Room. Sign-ups started on Thursday, December 1st and will continue through Friday, December 30, 2016. You must be a registered mechanic to sign up.
