FIRST BLOOD

PLAQUE DEDICATION

MARCH & MEMORIAL

MAY 15, 2013

Two events will be held honoring Brothers Dickie Parker and John Knudsen and all those who were killed on the waterfront.  Let’s honor the individuals and families who have sacrificed for all of us.

Event 1 – PLAQUE DEDICATION:

Plaque Dedication will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Harry Bridges Blvd., across from Tra-Pac in Wilmington.  Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will be in attendance.

Event 2 – MARCH AND MEMORIAL:

The march will begin at 10:30 a.m. on 22^nd Street and Harbor Blvd., and proceed down to 6^th Street and Harbor Blvd., in San Pedro.  Lunch will be passed out as you reach the Memorial site.  Memorial Service will be start at 12:10 p.m.

Note to all family members & friends:  If you have lost a loved one, please bring a placard, poster or picture honoring your loved one to carry in the march.  Let’s show our respect for our fallen brothers and sisters.  Let’s show our love and respect for our union, the ILWU.

CONTRACT READINESS

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Local 13 members/registrants wishing to participate on the committee please attend the first meeting on Friday, May 17, 2013 @ 12:00 noon at ILWU Local 13 – Executive Board Room, 630 S. Centre Street, San Pedro.  The Committee will be focused on educating members on the contract negotiation process and helping members financially prepare.

BLOODY THURSDAY

HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT

The 30th Annual Horseshoe Tournament will take place on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 8:00 a.m., at Peck Park, 560 N. Western, San Pedro, CA 90732.  If you are interested in signing up a team, please contact Jesse “Ungie” Lopez at (562) 743-4642 or SCRUB (310) 612-1411.  The cost is $50.00 per team (2 individuals) and the first seventy-two (72) teams signed up and paid for will play – NO EXCEPTIONS!  Drawing for the bracket will be announced at a later time.

BLOODY THURSDAY MEN’S

SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

The Bloody Thursday Softball Association (BTSA) Men’s Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 22 & Sunday, June 23, 2013 at The Yard in Fullerton, CA.
